Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Are The Effects Of Missing Two Doses Of Benicar?
My son takes benicar and he lost his new refill while moving. He did not have one yesterday or today His wife has him very upset that he will have a heart attack He called his dr today and they were supposed to call in enough pills to last til next refill but had not done by 5pm. What do you suggest
Benicar is composed of 'Olmesartan Medoxomil', which is a prodrug. It is hydrolyzed to Olmesartan during absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. Olmesartan is a selective AT1 subtype angiotensin II receptor antagonist.
It is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, to lower blood pressure. It is best to try to take the antihypertensive pill at the same time every day.
But if a dose or two is missed, take it as soon as possible. If it’s closer to the next dose, just skip the missed dose and get back on track with the next one.
But don’t take two pills at once to “make up” for the missed dose. If you have any concerns, consult your doctor promptly for appropriate advice.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
