What Are The Effects Of Chocolate Milk On Nuclear Imaging Stress Test?

I had a nuclear imaging stress test, complete with the treadmill part, and forgot to tell the technicians that I had a glass of chocolate milk 12 hours befor the test. Will this make the test invalid? Should I call the doctor's office tomorrow and tell them about it? Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Hi, I M Dr.Kumarbhargav
Consultant Pathologist
I understood your problem
Nuclear stress imaging is the test to evaluate blood flow to the heart in which small amount of radioactive tracer is injected into your vein and special camera (gamma camera) detects the radiation released by tracer. So it will evaluate blood supply to heart and circulation both at rest and during exercise.
Now coming to your chocolate milk. Most chocolate products have caffeine in it and caffeine will interfere with the results of the test. So any products with even trace amounts of caffeine are to be avoided for more than 24 hours before nuclear imaging stress testing
So I would recommend you should consult your doctor.
