What Are The Early Signs And Symptoms Of Menopause?

Question on pre-menapausal issues....i m 48 and been told i m pre-menapausal ( period sporadically, not regular for the past 6 months ). But the past few months I ve been very itchy, dry sky, ( especially in the crotch area ), horrible headaches. I ve had my blood pressure, sugar and regular blood work tested. Everything came back normal. Gyno found no infections ( advised typical clean, dry, cotton underwear ). Not an internal itch or discharge just external and inner thigh itch / irritation. Someone told me these are all normal for women who are pre-menapausal. But its very irritable, creating discomfort and the headaches are horrible. Should I look into estrogen suppliments ? Would that help relieve the itching and headaches.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. It is good that you have already been through the blood tests and they all came out normal.

Based on that, we can conclude that hormonal chnages and imbalance due to menopause is respinsible for the dry itchy skin and headaches you are experiencing. As it is due to hormonal imbalance, anything but hormonal therapy will give you only temporary relief or no relief.

You should visit your gynecologist and go for blood tests that determine hormonal levels in your blood. Based on the results, the doctor can give you options for hormone replacement therapy. Your symptoms will resolve after starting treatment.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HCM. I wish you good health!

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
