What Are The Chances To Return Back To Normal After Ischemic Stroke?

Hi sir, This is varma from vizag, india. My father got Ischemic stroke M 7.4. with rightside hemiplegia on 14 jan 2010. he presented hospital after two days. now his health is somewhat good, but he does not walk. His right leg and hand not working properly. Can he get well back again to normal state.

I read your question an dI understand your concern.

It appears that it by now 5 years since the stroke happened. While there are usually improvements after a stroke (depending on size and physical therapy), most of the improvement happens during the first 6 months. Of course each individual is different and there are cases improving even after 6 months with physical therapy.
However the longer the time the lesser the chances, so unfortunately I am afraid not much improvement can be expected after 5 years as in your father's case.
