What Are The Chances That We Are Not Affected By STD?

Hi there!

My wife is 3 months prego with our second child. 1 month ago she had a blood test and they determined that her ELISA test was positive but her western blot test was negatif. She had a second test. We just got the results and the ELISA came positive again and the western blot was indeterminate. I have not been with another partner in the last two years and so has my wife. What are the chances that we will get negatif news? We are so stressed about this.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
You mean ELISA and Western blot for HIV disease.
What was the duration between first ELISA and second ELISA?
2nd ELISA also positive and Western blot is intermediate means most likely it would be positive for HIV and the western blot will be likely to become significantly positive within another 2-3 weeks time.

This infection could very well be due to your sexual activities before 2 years also (HIV remain asymptomatic for more than 5-7 years) or it could be due to transfusion of blood or blood products earlier either to you or to your wife. Think of these possibilities. HIV is well manageable and nothing to get upset.
