What Are The Chances Of Recovering From Breathing Problem After Bypass Surgery?

Hello, My name is Kim Im 54 years old.On December 19,2014 I had a triple bypass, 3 weeks after surgery I developed fluid between my lungs and wall cavity from both sides of my lungs, 700ml and 100ml were removed,I was sent home with oxygen because I now have a hard time breathing.Its been almost 2 months since this happened, will my breathing get any better or will I be on oxygen the rest of my life?

Hello, many a times when the drains are removed early some fluid gets accumulated in the lung cavity, removable becomes mandatory if there is respiratory compromise as in your case.
Having explained this I would reassurance you that with passing of time your breathlessness will subside. However a review chest xray / sonography for the heart will quantity the fluid in lungs. Lastly and importantly I would like to know the 2d echo report as the heart pumping being on lower may be ultimate reason of your breathlessness and fluid in lungs, and this may warrant optimisation of the drug therapy you are on to strengthen your heart and decrease the load.
