If your wife does not like condoms, there are many other effective ways to avoid pregnancy.
She can consult her doctor and use hormonal contraception or intrauterine devise. hormonal contraception comes in the form of pills, patches, vaginal rings and injections .
I would not advise safe period method as it is not an ideal method.
