Hi,

Welcome to HCM.

ART has the following goals:
Reduction in HIV related mortality and morbidity
Maximal and durable suppression of viral replication
Restoration and/or preservation of immunological function
Improvement of quality of life

These drugs do not completely cause cure.

The person who is HIV positive should be very cautious and abstain from sexual intercourse with an HIV negative individual.

The chances of transmission of HIV through different modes are as follows:
Sexual intercourse - 80%
Through contaminated needles and instruments - 10%
From mother to baby - 10%

If the condom has broken during intercourse, there is chance of spread.

Her boyfriend should undergo testing to rule out exposure.

Thanks.
