What are the chances of immediate pregnancy after the removal of mirena?

I am getting my Mirena removed next week and I am wondering if the removal of an IUD causes ovulation. I am wanting to get pregnant as soon as possible and need to know what the chances of an immediate pregnancy are. I have had my iud since April 2011 and have only had one period while it was in place. I haven't had any problems with the iud.

Hi ,
Mirena is not a simle IUD. It has hormones impregnated , which were entering your body & suppressing your body's hormones. It will take some time for your body to start the regular cyclical hormonal production. Usually within a month or two you will have normal hormone levels , so normal ovulation. Usually after such suppression body hormone show a surge & suddenly good number of follicles start growing & pregnancy chances are good.
Hope I have cleared your Doubts
All the best

Hi, I am 30 years old, i had my first child when i was 19 years old, afterwards, i bled heavily, everytime i was supposed to have a smear done, i started bleeding. Eventually, when i was 21 years old, i was able to have the smear test. I was diagnosed with abnormal cells, i was at the 3rd stage, so luckily i got laser treatment done in the nick of time, as i was told that there are 5 stages, then it s cervical cancer. Afterwards i was still bleeding terribly. I went on to have another child, when i was 24. After my pregnancy I attended hospital for further investigation, and eventually, i was diagnosed with Endometriosis. My gp advised me to have the mirena coil inserted to treat my symptoms. She tried to fit the mirena, but due to the fact that i ve had a lot of my cervix removed with the laser treatment, and the fact that it was extremely painful, i had to be put under general anasthetic to have it fitted. Since I had it fitted 4 years ago, i ve hardly had any bleeding, but have experienced severe lack of sex drive, (i used to be verging on nymphomaniac before i had it fitted!) and feel really hormonal a lot of the time. I try to avoid sex with my partner as much as possible, as it s extremely uncomfortable & painful when i do have sex. The other night, we had sex, i had to tell him to stop, as it was really painful. I started bleeding immediately afterwards, but the pain i had was unbearable, i swear i was having labour pains! I could hardly move! I went to bed & was woken up during the night with the pain and i ve been having cramps ever since. This morning when i woke up, i went to the toilet, and had shooting pains when i tried to pass urine. I went to see my local nurse today, as i was due to have a routine smear test done, she said that she can see the strings of my mirena, so she thinks that it is still in place, but i feel that it has dislodged, as i ve had it in for 4 years and have never experienced any pain like this before. I want the mirena removed, but the nurse can t do it, there were no female gps on today, so the nurse advised me to seek advice from my local family planning clinic. I was wondering whether they will be able to remove it without a general anasthetic, as i needed one to have the mirena fitted. Also, what other treatments are available for endometriosis? Thanks

I plan to get my mirena iud removed in a few days and replace it with a new one. The appt. is for 3/21/15. I had unprotected sex on Monday (3/16/15). Is there a chance for pregnancy as soon as the Mirena is removed as sperm can live in the body for up to 5 days?

I have been on the Mirena for 2 1/2 years with normal 2-3 day cycles until I missed my last period. My next period was due today or tomorrow and still no sign of it. After I missed my last period I went to take a urine test at the OB, which was negative and they said Its too early to tell anyway. Over the counter tests also said negative. My last baby was a Mirena baby. After a negative test with him, and removing the IUD, I didn t know I was pregnant with him until 2 months later at the doctor. The ultrasound revealed I was 12 weeks pregnant. I m getting concerned I am pregnant again and the OB will just send me away once again. What should I do? I also have no insurance without Pregnancy Medicaid.

Hi I am experiencing severe-mild menstrual like cramps on my lower left side but no period. I had the Mirena IUD in for 3 years & after having it removed, I then started using the Nuvaring for about 5 months, & received my period like clockwork the 15th of every month, but haven t had it in place for almost three months now & yet no period & as of a month & a half ago, no pregnancy (only via home pregnancy test), but now I am so worried that like my very first pregnancy that this may be an eptopic pregnancy. Also, I had a pap 5 months ago & it was normal, so my fears of ovarian cancer are kinda at rest. What do you think?

Hi, I have been on the mirena IUD for 3 years now, and the last 2 weeks I have had very tender breasts, my lower abdomen feels bloated, I have had nausea but it seems to only be at night, and recently smells have been making me so nauseated I can hardly keep down my recent meal.. I have also noticed some white vaginal discharge, and have been so tired lately I can hardly pull myself out of bed, and go about my day without wanting to lay down for a nap. I had some spotting about 3 weeks ago and figured it was just a light period, because I am irregular I also have frequent urination, so I thought I was getting a bladder infection but when I looked it up I have no symptoms other then frequent urination, no burning sensation, its not cloudy, no fever.. I m at a loss I took a pregnancy test just to be sure and it came out negative..

HI I have had heavy periods every other week for nearly 4 years. I have had polyps removed last year and still the same. I have been taking Noristherone near enough constantly since a 48 hour constant heavy bleed before christmas. I have had an ultrasound which detected fibroids. The gynae consultant was reluctant to give me a hysterectomy even though I am 51 so had the Mirena coil fitted 14/2/14. still bleeding with the coil fitted and Noristherone. Passing clots intermittently and have bleeds like a tap turning on. I work for the Imaging dept at the NHS and had an ultrasound on the QT because of the stomache pain my work colleague thought the coil had moved, she said to demand a transvaginal scan has I had fluid in the lining of my endemetrius. I have just had another gynae appointment and had the scan to which they confirmed fibroids and pulsing blood!! whatever that meant. The consultant wanted me to have the Novasure but said it was likely not to work because of the fibroids. She was again reluctant to go down the hysterectomy route but I said I was fed up of having a miserable existance wearing black and being afraid to stay in hotels for fear of leakage so she very reluctantly has put me on the waiting list that she said could be 9-12 weeks. I have started the Noristherone again to give myself a break but how long can I take it for and do you think hysterectomy is the best course of action. Sorry I know this is a novel!!!!
