Hallow Dear,

The egg release in women takes place 14 days prior to the next expected menses. The life of egg is 24 hours and the sperms are active for 72 hours. Hence a week around the day of egg release is considered as fertile period. The other days are relatively infertile. Therefore unprotected sex 3 days just before and after the menses are most unlikely to effect pregnancy.

However, please remember that Safe Period is the most unsafe method of birth control. If you indeed want to enjoy sex without condom, it is a good option to switch over to intrauterine device like CuT or birth control pills.

While taking the birth control pills, she will have to comply with the timings and doses with regularity.

I hope you have got the required information.
