What Are The Causes And Remedies For Recurring Canker Sores?

I have had mouth sores off and on since January. My Dr had me on Acyclovair twice, Carafate liquid, and Steroid dose pak. The sores have returned after meds finished within 3 days. I have swollen lymphnodes primarily on right side of neck. Fatigue. The sores have been in various spots in mouth and back fo throat. Are these just canker sores?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that sores inside the oral cavity can be due to causes like Canker sores or Apthous Ulcers, Herpes virus infection causing cold sores, Bullous Pemphegoid etc..
As you are given medications for apthous ulcers [carafate and steroid] and also cold sores [Acyclovir], it is needed to be properly evaluated that what is the exact cause for sores in mouth and appropriate medications can be given to you and not a number of different medicines probably looks like Recurring Apthous Stomatitis or Recurring Canker sores but still needs confirmation..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and investigations like oral swab culture. blood tests to check for viral infection and also complete blood picture can help in diagnosis..
As of now you can do warm saline gargles.
Gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve pain..
Take Vitamin B complex daily along with Sucralfate [carafate]..
Acyclovir and steroids can be taken only after confirmation of cause..
However it most

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
