What Are The After Effects Of Contraception Pills In A Teenager?

I wrote in last evening about Normoz and my daughters PCOS and large cyst. I was advised by your doc that she should take contraceptive pills and stop normoz! She's only 15 and not at all comfortable taking the contraceptive pill. The cyst was large - 6cm by 4 cm by 4 cm. What are the possible side effects of messing around with hormones by using artificial hormones in contraception pills?

HI,
Thanks for your query . I have read it & understood your concern.
NOrmoz does not treat the basic cause of PCOD. Pcod is caused by hormonal imbalance leading to problems in ovulation, thus affecting menstrual cycle.
Oral contraceptives in such condition tend to correct the imbalance by artificially providing hormones in an optimal dose to body... thus regular menstrual pattern is ser up . This brings about rebound normalization of menstrual cycle with ovulation.
In teen agers.. reduction of weight & regularization of cycles by oral contraceptives is first line of treatment, which usually acts well.
Oral contraceptives taken regularly as advised.. does not mess with hormones but regulate the disturbed hormones. It does not have specific contraindication for teenagers So please continue with it as advised.
Oral contraceptives have side effect of gastrointestinal disturbances. ( nausea, vomiting ).. which tend to disappear over the time. For time being-
-do not take the pill on an empty stomach.
- The side effects can be managed for few days with anti emetic pill/ proton pump inhibitor with your doctor's advise.
Thanks.
