What Are The Adverse Reactions Associated With The Dental Crowns?

i recently had dental surgery and there is cement under the gum... my dentist indicated I would need surgery to have it removed... its really logged in under the gum... can I break this down myself, or leave it alone and what could be the side effects if I just leave it there..

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain a dental filling material is intended to fill the cavities on the teeth and is not indicated to be placed into the gums and in case if the filling material gets impacted deep into the gums then there can be "FOREIGN BODY REACTION".

The reaction can lead to inflammation of the gums leading to pain,redness,swelling, bleeding from the gums on mild stimulation and at times without stimulation..

There can be infection leading to pus formation and formation of a gum boil..

In case if still the foreign body is not removed there can be deepening of inflammation leading to erosion of the gums and underlying bone leading to loosening of teeth and subsequent fall of teeth..

If the reaction gets severe there can be cellulits and slowly the reaction can be fatal..

Therefore it is advisable to get the get the filling material removed for avoiding further complications..
