Hi, Propranolol is a non selective beta blocker which are prescribed for palpitations, reducing blood pressures, etc. But, non selective beta blockers are contra indicated in patients with respiratory diseases such as asthma and COPD. Now a days, cardio-selective beta blockers are prescribed for cardiac conditions. There are studies that the use of beta blockers in patients with respiratory disease with positive and negative outcomes. But, mostly non selective beta blockers are contraindicated in patients with respiratory disease though this will adapt on chronic use. Management depends on the cause for palpitations.
