What Are Risks For Carrying Baby In Forties?

Hi,

My first question is:

Is the baby affected if parents have same blood type? For example (the father O+ and mom also O+)

If yes, is there any solution?

And what is the solution please? Or

Should such partners avoid getting married or avoid having child?

Second question:

Is there any risk for a woman of 40 years old having baby? If yes, what is the risk?

If no risk on the first pregnancy, is there any chance of having more than one child?

What is the age range to become pregnant for a woman over 40?

I mean what is the last chance for a never married woman over 40?

Third question:

Is there any particular tests stuff to do and make sure about having a child when a never married woman is 40 or over?

Thank you

Hello ma'am and welcome.

You have good questions and I shall try to address them all.

1. No, there is no problem at all. The problem only arises when a woman belong to the O- blood group gets married to man having O+, and even then only for the second child, not the first.

2. Yes, women having children late tend to have a hormonal deficiency and also are more predisposed to having children with chromosomal disorders (eg. Downs syndrome)

You can have more children if your menstrual cycle supports it. I would say the age of 40 years itself is considered latest, so plan quickly and make sure you are well supervised by an OBGYN

3. Go about a quad marker test to rule out any abnormalities in the fetus. Also report to your doctor if you experience even mild spotting (blood) anytime during pregnancy.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
