What Are Inflammation And Ulcers In The Esophagus Suggestive Of?

I have had acid reflux for a few years and my difficulty swallowing got worst. I had an Endoscopy on Sept. 28 and the doctor put me on twice a day Prilosec (I had been on 1 only). I went to see the NP to the doctor on Tuesday Oct. 25. She said I had inflammation of the esophagus and small ulcers. She thinks I should have another one soon and we set one up but I am not sure if I should do another one so soon or just wait until 3 years for another one? What do these symptoms mean?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your problem seems to be due to oesophagal mucous membranes irritation by an I'd reflux.

Management of reflux by medicines and changed life style are the way out ofproblem.

You should wait for the medicines to act and if not controlled should go for another endoscopy as per your gastroenterologist advice.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
