What Are Rifampin, Isoniazid Capsules And Levomac Prescribed For?

Hello, My father is a 58 yr old person . He was recently diagonized as having Tuberculosis by one of the doctors and was given the following medicines ( Rifampin and Isoniazed Capsules U.S.P , Levomac 500 and Nervup OD ) . But while showing to other doctors, they did not disgonize TB and dint understand why these medicines were given.The medicine course was given for 6 months and now the term is over. I want know whether my father can immediately stop these medicines. Should any tests be taken and any diet should be improved?

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Treatment of tuberculosis should be taken for atleast 6months. And after treatment the lesions in the lung are healed by either fibrosis or calcification. And these appears as white opacity.
But it is not indicative of active disease.
I advice you to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. CT thorax
2. Bronchoscopy and BAL (Bronchoalveolar lavage) analysis for tuberculosis.
CT thorax will give more better idea about fibrotic lesion than chest x ray.
BAL is more superior than sputum in diagnosing TB.
If both are negative than no need to take further medicine. You are having old ,inactive,non infectious disease.
So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
