What Is Telogen Effluvium And Can This Condition Be Treated?

Welcome to Ask a Doctor . Please type yI have been heavily shedding hairs since February. It started suddenly. Eyebrows and eyelashes too. I broke up with my girlfriend in October and took fluoxetine and propranolol for about 4 months. My GP wasn t worried about it and thinks it is Telogen Effluvium but they didn t inspect my hair or scalp. It is now more noticeable at my hairline and crown. I seem to have bitemporal recession but recently I have had nregrowth all over those areas too. When I have had a shower I can see my scalp all over the top of my head. Is Telogen Effluvium more noticeable on the top of your head? While the sides of my head look thinner especially at the temples and near my ears, it doesn t look as thin as the top of my head.our question here...

Hi,

It may be androgenetic alopecia. I would recommend you to take finesteride 1 mg tablet daily for long time. Tab biotin 10 mg thrice a day for long time may be taken. Avoid anxiety and tension. Apply minoxidil 5% solution on the scalp twice a day. Ketoconazole shampoo may be used to cleanse the scalp.

Hope this helps.
