Weird Feeling In Left Eye After Swimming Followed With Burning Sensation In Eye Radiated To Cheek, Forehead. Serious?
Hello. I am a regular swimmer and I guess I'm use to being in high chlorine water. But Last week after my regular 1-2 hours swim my eye started feeling weird. I believe i got some water in my goggles but I kept swimming for another 40 min approx. It'sbeen almost a whole week since and now my eye has a burning sensation inside. What i noticed for the last 2 days is that I started having the same burning sensation in my chick, sometimes in my forehead , under my eye. I started using 2 days ago eye wash. So far it's still the same. The burning sensation it's not constant and it's only in my left eye and my left side. Not sure if I should be worried or not.
Hi.. Welocme to HCM and thanks for the query... There can be a mild damage to the ocular surface because of the chemicals present in the water.. You can use some lubricating eye drops for relief and if it not improving you need to consult a doctor for further treatment line.. Take care...
As from your history the findings suggest allergic affection of the eyes and face. Some times infections of the conjunctiva tend to occur following swimming called as Swimming pool conjunctivitis. However infective conjunctivitis tend to have other symptoms like watering and discharge. Since you are not having any of the these symptoms it is most likely to be allergic condition. However if the symptoms wont resolve or other symptoms like watering, redness and discharge of the eye appear, you need to consult your eye doctor. Thank you
hello, welcome to HCM, this burning sensation is due to chemical conjunctivitis with dermatitis due to high exposure of chlorine. i advise you to avoid swimming for 7 days. wash eyes with plenty of water, do cold fomentation with ice and put refresh tears in your eyes. for burning over skin you can apply aloe- vera based cream which is good soothing agent or either you can apply lacto- calamine lotion to your skin. if condition persists you can consult ophthalmologist and take his advice, take care i hope i answered your query you can further ask me question dr.khushbu
