Water Discharge From The Ear After Cleaning. Difficulty In Hearing. Why?

I went to the er about 4 or 5 days ago and the doctor said i had wax billed up so he had a nurse come in with a syringe and clean both out with water. When she went in and cleaned the left ear she blew that water in my ear like a fire hose, and since I can't hear very well out of the left ear. My pcp said there was no shine thing in my ear. Is this permanent?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

I have read your description which does not seem to be adequate and clear. However when you say there was 'no shine thing in the ear' your physician must have meant to say that there is a bit of retraction in your ear drum. That could also be a cause for you to be hard of hearing for some time now.

Wax removal using syringing is some times scary for some patients. I do not think you need to worry about it as the wax has been already removed.

To know the right cause for your ear condition, you will need an ENT specialist to examine your nose, throat and ear as all of them can contribute for the retraction in your ear. I suggest you take an appointment with ENT specialist.

Regards,
Sreenivasan
