Welcome to HCM,
Thanks for your query, avil is the brand name of Anti-Histamines group (pheniramine maleate) used for allergies. Its been around for at least 50 yrs. Problem with Avil is that it causes drowsiness and lethargy and other side-effects like drowsiness, GI complaints, dry mouth, palpitations, urinary retention, increased intraocular pressure. Hallucinations, agitation & disorientation maybe in high doses. There are several newer group of drugs which do not cause these problems. If you have any further queries, I will be happy to respond.
