Vomiting, Spinning Head. History Of Nausea Followed With Heavy Dinner. Concerning?

Hi
My husband has been vomiting since 3am (it's now 9am) it's eased off a bit in the last couple of hours. He also says his "head is spinning" - keep in mind he's been lying in bed except for hanging over the toilet bowl.
Midday yesterday complained of nausea but had no trouble eating a steak and kidney jaffle.
For dinner last night ate roast beef, veges, gravy etc, dessert lemon yoghurt cake with cream, and had a couple of glasses of red wine - pronounced "Yum" when he'd finished, and went to bed 10.30pm.
To keep him hydrated I'm about to give him a little lemon barley water - won't drink straight water.
We've both eaten the same food over the last 48 hours, and I'm fine.............any ideas?
Thanks - Deb

Hi and thanks for this query.
Am sorry to hear about what your husband has been experiencing.

From the information provided, the symptoms are most likely related to food. Eating a lot of different food varieties at the same time can lead to indigestion with gastro intestinal manifestations like nausea and vomiting. I will not want to call this food poisoning because of lack of diarrhoea and the fact that you both ate exactly same and you re super fine.

Continue doing as much to keep him well hydrated. if you should think he is loosing too much fluids compared to what he can take, then consider seeking medical attention to get the fluids and electrolytes corrected. However, most people do not need medical attention and symptoms subside pretty fast.

I wish hi a speedy recovery.
