Vomiting Followed By Stomach Cramping, Nonstop Diarrhea, Purplish Mottled Skin On Thighs Seen. Is This Serious ?

There is a stomach virus going around Columbus, Oh. and I have had it for four days now. Vomiting the first day, followed by 3 days of severe stomach cramping and nonstop diarrhea. Brat diet and immodium have not helped. Today i also noticed purplish mottled skin on my thighs. Is this serious, or sholdl I just rest and let it run its course?

Hi--this has gone on a little too long for the standard stomach virus so you need to see a doctor and get a stool sample for culture to see if you have a bacterial colitis like E coli or Salmonella. As for the mottling, that wouldn't be related to a colon infection, but it could be from the vomiting and the diarrhea.
