hi,
thank you for your query.

ovarian cyst is a common cause for pain while urinating and sex.
they form during the process of ovulation. It can happen when the egg is not released or when the sac (follicle) holding the egg doesn't dissolve after the egg is released. Ovarian cysts usually cause no symptoms and dissolve on their own. They can, though, create a dull ache or a sharp pain if one twists or ruptures.

the doctors are right to suggest OCPs as generally the first line of treatments is watchful waiting, which is done only for few weeks to months.but as in your case its been years they have gone for the second option that is the OCPs.

these help in relieving the pain from ovarian cysts. They prevent ovulation. That, in turn, reduces the formation of new cysts.they also balance the hormones in the body.
i would suggest you to start the pills as soon as possible before further pain or symptoms start.because the last resort then will be surgical removal of the ovary.

thank you,
wishing you good health
