Urine Test Shows High Number Of Pus Cells, Reaction Is Acidic, Occasional Epithelial Cells. Meaning?
Hello doctor i am a medical student at xxxxxx i looked at my friends urine report and realized he has pus cells greater than 100 and color of urine is yellow, reaction is acidic. Sp. Gravity is 1.015 and epithelial cell is occasional, reaction is acidic. Please help me understand what his his problem. Thank you

thank you.presence of plenty pus cells in urine indicate urinary infection.it may occur at the urinary pathway from kidney to urethra.associated clinical features hints the site of infection.according to clinical feature some other inv. may be needed like USG & X-ray of KUB region.treatment usually depends on the result of report of C/S of urine.

A broad sp[spectrum antibiotic like ciprofloxacin is enough for this.
An alkalizing agent may also be helpful in this situation.

hello tazim,
according to your friend report he has urinary tract infection and because of acidic reaction may be he is feeling burning sensation. YOU should go for ultrasound also to know about infection and swelling in kidneys .You can use ofloxacin plus cefixime combination for 10 days with sodium citrate liquid for 10 days.
