Urine Protein Level Is 5. Rheumatoid Arthritis. Taking Enbrel, Methotrexate, Folic Acid, Celebrex, Tylenol. Discomfort In Penis

my husband has been told he has a high protein level of 5, in his urine. He has rheumatoid arthritis, taking Enbrel, methotrexate, folic acid, celebrex and Tylenol at times. could all this medication attribute to his levels of protein? How concerned to we need to be? Just started doing weekly urine tests. He does have urgency and frequency to urninate, however cut out coffee and increased his water intake, which has helped some. He also gets discomfort in his penis with all this. Not to the touch, but feels something isn't right there. We would appreciate some opinions on this.
Thanks, Norma

Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your husband has proteinuria of grade 5.which suggests kidney problem and needs to be investigated in detail.
You have not mentioned his age in your query.
Please consult qualified Urologist/Nephrologist for clinical evaluation and get following test done to help in diagnosing his problem.
1) Urine routine test and urine culture .
2) Amount of total protein excreted in urine in 24 hours .
3) Renal function tests.(Blood Urea and serum creatinine)
4) Ultrasound scanning of the abdomen.
5) He may need few more investigations like (C.T scan of the abdomen ,Renal Biopsy etc depending upon results of these preliminary tests.).

Further treatment will depend upon results of these tests and final diagnosis.

This is not due side effects of the drugs that he is taking.
