I have been coughing uncontrolled since sunday. the coughs have not produced different colored mucus. it feel like I have mucusor something stuck in my throat. Went to the dr. said the sinuses and lungs were clear prescribed cheritussin and prendisone. I feel like I am getting worse and my fever has returned. What should I do what do I have?
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. I would come up with these possibilities for such type of cough with mucus, these includes. 1 Asthmatic allergic bronchitis ,as you mentioned that something is stuck in throat .Actually this is mucus and usually sticky in nature call as post nasal discharge. This is a common feature of asthmatic allergic bronchitis. Diagnosis can be confirmed by physical examination . Whistling sound during breathing , ronchi, post nasal discharge are the characteristic symptoms. 2 Tuberculosis , as fever reoccurs and cough is there from almost last 10 days. Diagnosis can be confirmed by sputum examination with clinical history. 3 Bronchiectasis , diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest with physical examination. In my opinion prednisolone and chritussin is not effective in such type of cases. So consult a physician and get his opinion. Good luck. Dr. HET
