Unable To Run Or Play Even 18 Months After ACL Reconstruction Surgery And Exercises

Hi,my name is Pramod,

18 months back,i have gone through Arthoscopic ACL reconstruction surgery(Left knee),

i m doing knee excercise regularly as per advised by Physiotherapist,

bt even after 18 months still i m not able to run, i cant play, still i have a pain in my knee( on the knee cap and area around it) and muscle is not developed at operated area, my left knee looks smaller than right knee..

when i visited my doctor he told me that u need to do MRI again, and even if MRI shows 85/90% positive

u need to go through a surgery again, in which he will shave knee cap so that new muscle or cartrige will develop on that area..

I m tired now of going to doctor again n again and i hv spent lots of many on this and i cant afford any surgery again..

pleae advise me what can be done ahead..???

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
hi
what i can make out from your query is that you has small cartillage defect in knee cap and which usually results in difficulty in climbimg stairs and getting up from sitting position.so for this defect you can have inj.hyalgan and take joint nutrition (glucosamine and chondroitin ).Do you have fever or your knee is warm ?
as far as ACL is concern its health and strength can be assesed on MRI.take care and you can talk to me anytime and manytime.
I find this answer helpful
