USG: A Well Defined Multilocular Cystic Lesion Of 32x20mm On Left Submandibular Space

A 16 MONTHS OLD BABY BOY. POST OPERATIVE FOLLOW-UP CASE OF CONGENTIAL RANULA. PRESENT USG REVEALS A WELL DEFINED MULTILOCULAR CYSTIC LESION MEASURING 32 * 20 MM IN THE LEFT SUBMANDIBULAR SPACE JUST MEDIAL TO THE SUBMANDIBULAR GLAND . IT IS INSEPARABLE FROM THE LEFT SUBMANDIBULAR GLAND AT PLACES. MOST LIKELY POSSIBILITY IS SEROMA. THERE ARE MULTIPLE REACTIVE CERVICAL NODES. NOW WHAT WILL BE THE TREATMENT?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi, thank you for posting your query on health care magic.

Looking at the USG report, probably the seroma would be due to little blood collected in the submandibular space after the surgery.

It would be advisable to consult the surgeon and drain the collected fluid.

Take care.
