US Showed Band Around Top Of Uterus. What Does It Indicate?
my 16 week ultrasound found what my Dr. called a band around the top of my uterus . He said this could effect fetal development and referred me to Maternal Fetal Med. I have had 3 previous c-sections, this will be my 4th. What could the band he talks about be? He didn t provide much information, just that it was concerning.
As a mother myself, I can appreciate that you would be concerned.
Bands in the uterus in pregnancy can be due to different causes with varied significance. They are growths of different possible types of tissue.
They can be as a result of scarring in the womb and referred to as synechiae, these do not usually affect the outcome of the pregnancy.
They can also occur as a result of other of amniotic bands. These are rare, they may be associated with possible complications.
The bands seen may not be serious or associated with any significant abnormalities but is best to follow up with the doctors to determine the type and cause of bands present.
I wish you and your baby the best
