Twisted ankle. X ray showed no fracture, but sprained. Swollen ankle, bruising on next day. Suggestions?

I fell on Friday the 29th and turned my ankle. This was about 2pm, went to the ER and was seen around 8pm. Xray showed no fracture, but its sprained. Today its still swollen, and hurting and cant put any weight on it. Bruising all the way up to the middle of my leg on that side, Im wondering if the Xray missed something?

Thanks for writing to us.
The swelling and bruising in the ankle is related to a local hematoma formation and the sprain. You can follow RICE therapy for a week and avoid weight bearing on the foot.

Diabetologist Dr. Sudharshan's  Response
Welcome to HCM...

X ray shows no fracture means it could be ligament injury....keep cold to the ankle and apply crepe bandage...take some pain will take 3-4 days to recover.

Hope I answered your question.
