Hello
I appreciate your query.
The urine ( HCG ) pregnancy test should be taken a few days AFTER missing the date of your expected period, and not before, which you did.
Also, all the symptoms that you mention are non specific, and could be related to either pregnancy,or an approaching period .
The symptom of going from hot to cold to back again is described as classically hot flashes and is a sign of impending menopause.
The only way to confirm your pregnancy is to perform a home pregnancy ( urine - hcg ) test now.
If negative, and you do not have your periods within a week, please consult a gynecologist.
At 40, you will need the help of an infertility specialist to conceive
all the best.
