Treatment For Itching And Red Spots Under Thighs, Stomach, Underarms?
Hi doctor. I am 38 year old woman. I have 2 kids. I am 85 Kgs and height 5 feet 2 inches. i have developed an itchy skin around my thighs, stomach, underarms, and under the breasts. The itching starts and red boils appear at that area. Then the red spots change to dark patches. When I apply a topical medical cream to that area, it subsides for the time being. But if I stop applying anything it comes again.
I would keep a possibility of a fungal ingfection. Body folds like groin and axilla provide a moist environment which is conducive for fungal growth.
If I was your treating doctor I would have asked you to use a cream containing a topical antifungal like clotrimazole/ketoconazole/sertaconazole OR luliconazole either alone or used in combination with a mild topical steroid like beclomethasone(clotrimazole + beclomethasone combination cream).
I would have also preferred to put you on oral antifungals like either fluconazole OR Itraconazole for a faster and more complete relief.
An OTC antihistamine e.g cetrizine once daily can be taken for symptomatic relief of itching.
Once the infection is cured, you can greatly benefit from using an antifungal dusting powder in the folds which not only keeps the area dry but also being an antifungal also prevents fungus from proliferating.
