I understand your concern and that depression can be a very tough issue to deal with. I also understand that being a medical student itself can be stressful. I also think that it is not a good adaptive mechanism to go through the phase of cutting to relieve your emotional pain. A good counselor should be able to help you deal with the stresses and effectively cope with them. I also believe that you will feel better with medications and that you should consult a psychiatrist for the same. I also think that you may be able to find that yoga and pranayama are useful coping mechanisms. I know it is a lot to ask for in your tight schedule but you can also start working on making a time table so as to effectively use your time.
Take care and have a lovely day!

I am wondering what the term would be for someone who thinks they have every medical problem going. Is yelling one minute, sad the minute, won t say a word the next minute. Attention seeking from everyone, anywhere. States that they have thought of commiting suicide and isn t afraid to tell that to anyone around
I have OCD and depression which is now getting out of hand because I feel like I am going mad. An example of how bad it is: I looked on my bookcase, and noticed that ONE book had fallen down, resting on the shelf, and it sent me into turmoil. I have to constantly check that things are undamaged. I even hold new books in such a careful way, as to keep them in their brand new original condition. I don t even accept normal wear and tear of things.
My 25 year old daughter has septo-optic dysplasia. She is plagued with epilepsy and takes four different types of medications. I am considering a vagal-nerve stimulator implant but am unable to get answers to the questions I have. She sees an epileptologist and also an endocrinologist. I would like to know if the vagal nerve stimulator is a successful remedy for epilepsy with her prognosis?
