Transvaginal And Transabdominal Ultrasound Showed Thickened Endometrium. Meaning?

i had a transvaginal and transabdominal ultrasound today: this is the result .. the uterus is anterverted with smooth contour and homogenous echopattern measuring 9.0 x 5.3 x 4.6 cm. (cervix measures 3.8 x 3.8 x 3.3 cm.) the endometrium is hyperechoic measuring 2.1 cm. with intact subendometiral halo. Both ovaries are not visualized. There are no adrenal masses seen. There is no free fluid in the cul de sac... Impression: - thickened endometrium, consider endometriall pathology; normal sized anterverted uterus; non-visualized ovaries

Hello & thanks for posting on HCM
USS results need to be interpreted considering age & time of scan realted to periods as thickening of endometrium (lining of womb) changes according to time of cycle
USS results mean = uterus is positioned normally in pelvis, uterine size is OK but cervix seems little bulkier, endometrium is hyperechoic due to thickness which is significantly thick ( possible reasons being glands are overactive) but there doesn't seem to be any fibroids though.
Absence of free fluid in Cul de sac usually rules out any ruptured ovarian cyst.
Not to worry re ovaries not been seen as it is entirely normal for ovaries to be obscured by overlying bowel gas.
I suggest you need appt with Gyn to get endometrial sample (pipelle biopsy which is an office procedure OR better to get hysteroscopy done) - this is more a precautionary means to make sure thickening of endometrium is not due to cancerous cells.
Hope this helps
