Took Deviry 10mg To Delay Periods. Periods Didn't Come, Positive Pregnancy Report. Any Effect Of Tablet On Fetus?

I had taken Tab. Deviry 10mg bd for three days for the reason to postpone my periods date for some spiritual ceremony. Now I dn,t get my periods even after 12 days . I got positive for pregnancy pregcard test. I would like to know whether the intake of tablet will cause any side effect to the baby? please help me to clarify my doubts.Thank you.

Deviry contains medroxyprogesterone acetate. Some studies shows that there is an increased risk in abnormal development of fetal genitals and associated decrease in birth weight- especially when it is taken in the first trimester of pregnancy. But some of the other studies doesnt prove this. Hence we cannot predict how much is the risk truly.
Please undergo regular antenatal surveillance and anomaly scan to rule out any congenital anomalies. Please take folic acid supplements in the first trimester of the pregnancy. And avoid further taking any tablets without your doc advice.
