Toe Infection, Sore Foot, Bluish Purple Toe With Black Mark Where Nail Joins Toe. Advise?
My mom of 93 has bad circulation in her foot which has improved with wearing socks constantly but then got infection in her toe and her foot was very sore and there ius a black mark where the nail joins the toe that is not going away. Also her toe inparticlar is bluish purple with almost bruise like marks on the bottom of her foot. Even though the colour is better the foot still feels cold near the toes.

Change in color of the toe along with cold clammy skin of the concerned area just point toward impaired blood circulation of the involved area due to which oxygen and nutrient supply to concerned area is cut off and gangrene sets in. It is common in elderly people. I would advise that you meet a surgeon as early as possible so that Proper treatment can be started. Treatment is in the form of debridement or amputation and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
