Toddler leg pain, please help

My daughter just turned 2 in December. Right around 1 1/2 she started waking up screaming because her legs hurt. Then just as soon as it started it stopped up until the beginning of this month. Now she wakes up screaming and can t really walk all that well. When she tries too it s almost like her leg gives out. which then causes her to fall straight down or stumble. I have considered that it s growing pains but I m not so sure about that anymore. I m not sure if it matters or not but she weighs aprox 31 pounds and 36 1/2 inches tall. Also, when she was born, she was purple (She is a white baby) and not breathing and the umbilical cord was extremely short, like it was so short that the doctor laid her below my belly button because the cord didn t go any further.

Hi Christy,
Your daughter requires a Paediatrician and Orthopaedician's consult as early as possible. Night pain is a symptom of infection or a tumor. However, I wouldn't comment on anything unless seen clinically. I don't think its due to growth pain, as it's never so severe.

I would take her to the doctor and request a blood test to rule out leukemia. My daughter is complaining of bone and joint pains in many places but not her legs and her doctor said that leg pain is often the first sign. I sure hope it isn't. But better to find out earlier than later. Good luck to you.

My daughter will be 4 this month (May 30th). She has complained of leg & knee pain off & on since she was 2. I have had her to the pediatrician on numerous occasions. I have been told that it is growth pain.....and that she could have toddler RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome). She is healthy in every other aspect, but the leg pain still concerns me to this day even though she doesn't complain as much comes & goes in spurts.

I hope your child is only experiencing growth pains....she will be in my prayers.
