Tightening Under Ribs When Smoking, Gas. Have Hypothyroidism. Reason?

Thank you, I am an occasional smoker. I have just been laid off from my job. So very stressed to say the least. The last couple of times I have smoked I have noticed a tightening under my right breast , under my ribs. No pain just tight. When I say occasional I mean maybe 1 a day if any, usually in the evening. I have also been a little gassy the last couple of days. I eat very bland low fat foods. 56 yrs female 140 lbs 5 2 . Hypothyroid. No high blood pressure no diabetes
