Tickle Cough, Weakness, Red Spots On Tongue, Lightheadedness, Congested Nose. Is It An Infection?

My 14 year old son has had a tickle cough for a number of weeks it has now loosened but he is feeling generally unwell. He has a few red spots on the front of his tongue, he says it is not sore but says throat is sore when he swollen, he also says he is light headed and has had headaches in the past couple of days although none at moment. His nose is also congested. Would he have an infection of some kind?
