As your tsh is so high at the level of 25 , you do need thyroxine at the dose of 1.6 x body weight , you are taking low dose of eltroxin.

Weight increase in hypothyroidism is very common due to accumulation of water in your body , round about 3-5 kg increase , by using eltroxin at the dose i prescribed will lower your body weight considerably

Eltroxin at older age that is greater than 60 years is usually life long , but the cause of hypothyroidism will tell us how long you need eltroxin , ask your doctor

Cabbage , red wine , tomatoes , red meat , fish will increase your iodine level and hence thyroid levels

Hope this helps
