ENT Specialist 's  Response

Thanks for writing to H.C.M. for your query.

I have gone through your query regarding recurrent throat pain and irritation of your brother. He had been examined by your G.P. and ENT specialist both of them found nothing abnormal in his throat. He had been given lot of acidity tablets but he didn't got any relief.

Symptoms of your brother are indicating towards chronic pharyngitis , this may be-

(a) Infective.

(b) Allergic.

(c) L.P.R.

To differentiate the above possibilities you should go for Culture & Sensitivity of throat swab. This test will tell us -

(1) About any infection is there or not

(2) If infection is found than which antibiotic will be of much help.

Till the report of test is awaited you may take-

(a) Warm saline gargling.

(b) Avoid spicy food.

I hope this will help you.
