I have fibroids. My period is always irregular. Some months I wont have a period. Sometimes I do. Ive been bleeding for 13 days its heavy. I have a drs appt in like 3 weeks to get another ultrasound and see if theyre still growing. Ive had implanon birth control in my arm for almost a year. Im 18 years old. Should I be worried that im bleeding so much?
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. I will try to explain you ,why you are having this type of bleeding ? 1 This type of bleeding we call as irregular bleeding. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding, amenorrhea , scanty bleeding ( as you are having all these symptoms) may bbe due to ovarian cysts. As this is the most common cause of this type of bleeding in young female at this age group. Can be confirmed by an ultrasound of abdomen with ovarian areas. 2 May be due to any disease in uterus in itself ,this can be confirmed by ultrasound of uterus for fibroid or any other disease. In my opinion get in blood for estrogen , androgen , alteration in ratio of LH/FSH and then consult a gynecologist and get his opinion. Good luck. Dr. HET
