Taste In Mouth Turned Salty From Metallic. History Of Easy Removal Of Wisdom Teeth. Suggested MRI For Head. What To Expect?
Hi, I'm not sure what to expect when I go for my MRI appointment this Friday. . It's for my head. I have been complaining about metallic taste in my mouth since last November. The taste has changed to salty. I had my wisdom teeth removed a couple of months before. The dr said that they came out quite easy so he dicede to give me 300 dollars off. Weird right? What dr give you a deal after your done? My last appointment was with ear, nose , throat specialist las week. I'm just wondering why I got in so quick for MRI. I live in canada. Its usually a wait. I'm worried that is more serious. Can you give my some direction please! Btw I'm 42 female not overweight and heathy. Thank you

General & Family Physician, Dr. Jay Patel's Response
Hi,
Based on the information you are having a metallic taste in your mouth since november and doctor offered to have an MRI, and wanted to know is it necessary expense to have or not?
Here are most common causes to have metallic taste in mouth. 1) Bleeding Gums 2) Over Sensitivity to Taste 3) Stomach Acid 4) Medications.
First of all you need to have above mentioned issue checked, if none is true reason for the cause of having prolonged metallic taste then, its recommended to have MRI- Brain to look for any issue with in nerves/brain that may cause the problem.
Hope it helps Thanks dr.JAY PATEL.
