Taking Zempred For Urticaria. Was Suffering From Viral Fever. Could I Stop Taking Zempred Suddenly?

I was on zempred medication for two months for urticaria. Started with 8mg, tapered to 4mg as prescribed by the doctor. However, since the past week I was suffering from Viral fever and on medication for it. So stopped zempred consumption completely. I have learnt from google that zempred is a steriod and should not be stopped suddenly. What are thre ill effects that I may suffer from? While the rashes continue, I haven t gone back to the tablet? Please advice.

Thanks for the query

What you have read is true about steroids that it should not be stopped immediately. But this fact is for higher doses, in our practice 4mg per day is considered a small dose and is stopped without further tapering .
If the rashes are continuing I advice you to apply topical steroids, tab levocetrizine one at night will also help you with the urticaria until you are better and please try to restart zempred as adviced as soon as possible
