Taking birth control pills, have brown and clotted period. What is the reason for the change?

I ve been taking birth control pills for about 8 months now. I have been taking the pills at the same time every day. Usually when it is time for my period the blood is red. This month it is brown and really clotty. I have had sex. Each time was protected. I used both the birth control method, as well as, condoms . So, I know I shouldn t be pregnant. Could there be a reason for this change?

your blood is brown because it's old blood-your cycles are regular & cahncesare that you started bleeding in your uterus but uterine contractions didn't start at the same time, so it was sitting inside of you for a few days. then when it comes out it will be brown. No way it is related to your contraceptive pills.
