Taking Norethisterone For PMT Problems, Took Before Starting Periods. Periods Heavy, Longer. Is It Normal?

Hi I have just started taking Norethisterone for PMT problems, as it is not for contraceptive purposes I was told to start taking is straight away rather than wait until my period. I started taking them on the 11 December. My period would have been due on 13 Dec but did not arrive. I started spotting about the 19th dec and started bleeding more heavily on the 24th Dec, I am still bleeding now, my period normally only lasts 4-5 days. Is this normal when just starting this medication . I feel I am worse off taking it.
