Taking Hyzaar For High BP. Giving Potassium And Magnesium At Bed Time. Should Supplements Given Or Not?
my daughter takes hyzaar for high blood pressure but she has suffered for years being only able to sleep 3 or 4 hrs a night only. i have recently started giving her 99mg of potassium and also magnesium at bedtime and she is sleeping like a baby but, i also read that giving potassium might not interact well with the hyzaar. may even be dangerous. should she take the supplements or not
?
Yes potassium supplements should be taken with care, especially where are taken together with Hyzaar.
If i was your treating doctor i will check potassium and other electrolytes (Magnesium, chloride ect) if they are ok your daughter don't need any supplements. If the electrolytes level in blood are below normal values than your daughter need the supplements.
