Taking Eltroxin For Hypothyroidism. Prescribed Finasteride For Hair Loss. Appropriate Medicine?
hey Doctor, I was recently diagnosed of hypothyroidism and taking eltroxin 100mcg and have been loosing hair for quite sometime(2 years). Recently I consulted a dermatologist and he advised to take Finastride 2mg, Boina E and Sofer tablets and there is some improvement in the hair loss . Kindly let me know if the medicine prescribed are appropriate?
Hi There, Finasteride blocks an enzyme which converts testosterone to active ingredient dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This medicine is helpful in androgenic alopecia. However, it may not be useful in all types of hairloss. SOFER and Biona-E are vitamin tablets. Since there is improvement, you could continue to take these pills. Please continue Eltroxin as well. Regards Binu
