Taking Byetta For Type 2 Diabetes. Worried About Slow Digestion Effect. Have Nausea

Hello, recently my primary care Dr. put me on Byetta for type 2 diabetes. I am worried about the slow digestion effect, as I had trouble with slow digestion before I started the medication. I am feeling like I am full all the time and getting constipated. I am on 10 dosage twice daily. No other effects except for mild nausea. I could not take Metformin as I got severe loose stools.

Hi thanks for your question.
Yes slow digestion is the side effect of Byetta and body takes time to adjust to this side effect. Your doctor has prescribed this medicine to you, as your doctor knows this medicine is best for you.If you cannot tolerate this side effect of this medicine re consult your treating physician he /she may change the medication.
Hope this answers your question

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Byetta i.e. exenadine is available in injection form.
The main side effect of byetta is interfere in digestion as you are already suffering from this disorder .
In my opinion you should consult your treating physician once again .
Discuss about this nausea and indigestion problems.
Sometimes byetta develops low sugar level so take precaution.
Good luck.
